2007. An old friend had just moved to New York. I was excited to share the places I had discovered. Coney Island, different than I had imagined - a favorite place. Sort of like nature, a lot not like nature at all.
I sold a pair of earrings today. This is the card they are attached to, ready to be shipped. The card is made from the top of an egg carton; the kangaroos were found in a 1974 issue of National Geographic, recovered from the lost and found.
Tonight we made dinner: Roast beef and potatoes with port sauce. sweet potatoes. green beans with brussel sprouts and roasted fennel and shallots. smoked turkey with stuffing with sage and bread and pork sausage and brandy gravy. apple pie, pumpkin pie, whipped cream. red wine. gorgeous food shared with family. thankful.
I moved to Brooklyn at the beginning of 2004. For the first while my brother Zayne shared his small room with me. He took a photo of the tree tops outside our window and gave me a black and white photocopy of it.
This is a picture of the tree tops out side my window in Portland; I am sending to Zayne who now lives in London.
These are handmade earrings - the beads are from my collection of mostly deconstructed used jewelry. They are just under 4" long. I have other pairs that are similar, but not exactly the same and would be happy to take any special orders.
We got new hand dryers today at Por Que No, the restaurant where I work. Someone was overheard saying "I thought it was a toilet". I made signs like this so everyone would know it is a hand dryer.
